Photography Project

In 2009 my friend and I took a photography class at The University of Hawaii called "KYC3-Know Your Camera 3". Back in 1998 I was learning techniques on a 35mm SLR and thought I should step into the digital world with some more current information for my Nikon D50 DSLR. The class required we shoot in raw format for the final project which was on location at the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island.

Below are some of my final photos. On the last day of class everyone shared their results. It was interesting to see how different all of the images were, despite the fact we all shot the same scene. I also learned that even point and shoot cameras can be powerful in manual mode.

Our instructor got a permit and he also gained us access to the World War II-era hangar where an
old aircraft was being restored (North American T-6 Texan). The windows of the Restoration
Shop had blue tinted glass which made the lighting situation very unique.

Lastly, I highly recommend if you are ever in Hawai'i that you visit The Pacific Aviation Museum to catch a glimpse of aviation history preserved.

Holiday Blur

There is a photo magazine called "JPG" that dedicated an entire issue to embracing the blur. I was always fond of the painting with light concept and here are a few of my interpretations. Long exposure + blurry on purpose = Happy Holidays!

The source of light for the above images mainly came from this present.

Lastly, the quintessential ornament reflection shot. It's like a make-shift fish-eye lens without the expensive price tag of an actual lens. It's genius! Happy New Year.

Afternoon Haze

Water drops and flowers

Here is a set of macro shots. I used macro filters and also adjusted the white balance settings in the camera to get different hues. Mission abstract complete.
